Cheerios Marshmallow Bars

I got this recipe off the cheerios website. I had 2 huge boxes of cheerios and needed something to do with them, and I heard about making rice krispy treats with cheerios, so I looked these up and made them for the kids in nursery last night. They were very yummy but very sticky. I think next time I will use 7 cups of cereal instead of just 5. These are super easy, making them in the microwave, my Daniel can eat them because they are allergen free for him, and they are a healthier version of the rice krispy treats since they are made with whole grain cereal.

Ingredients
-3 Tbsp butter or margarine (watch for dairy-free)
-10.5oz bag mini marshmallows
-5-7 cups cheerios cerealDirections
Spray or butter a 9x13 pan. In a very large microwaveable bowl, microwave butter and marshmallows uncovered on high for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Immediately stir in cereal, coating it well. Butter or spray your hands or spoon and press mixture firmly in pan. Allow to cool completely. Store at room temperature or in fridge. Makes 24 bars.

Variation: Use rice krispies for traditional rice krispy treats or another favorite cereal... my mom made these with kix cereal when we were visiting, and they were really yummy too!
-if you want to make on stove top, just heat marshmallows and butter in large pot until melted. Remove from heat and add in cereal. See above for further direction.

75 calories per bar (if you use 5 cups cereal & butter- 83 calories if you use 7 cups cereal)
